Deputies from the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, Yaroslav Nilov and Mikhail Terentyev, have proposed revoking drivers' licenses for repeated illegal use of the "Disabled" sign.
The bill stipulates that the fine for the first such violation should increase from 5,000 rubles to 7,500 rubles. In addition, illegally installed signs will be confiscated from violators. In case of repeated violations, the sanctions will also be tightened.
It is proposed to increase the fine for individuals up to 15,000 rubles or to deprive them of their driver's license for a period of one to three months. If the bill is adopted, officials will face a fine of up to 40,000 rubles, and legal entities – up to 1 million rubles.
The authors of the initiative emphasize that these measures are aimed at protecting the rights of citizens with disabilities and preventing abuses related to the use of signs to obtain benefits.
