Previously, the Chinese company JAC was a permanent partner of the Moscow Automobile Plant. However, in July of this year, information appeared about the possible launch of the SAIC concern's car assembly at the plant's facilities. This collaboration may become the first joint project of "Moskvich" and SAIC.
The portal "Chinese Automobiles" reported that a key stage in the preparation for the launch of sales of the new "Moskvich M70" car has been completed: an extract from the register of declarations of conformity has been obtained. This document, confirming the conformity of the model (factory number AS33), is necessary to obtain vehicle type approval. Analysis of HS codes shows that the "Moskvich M70" is a passenger car that will be offered with two engine options: with a volume of 1000-1500 cm³ and 1800-2300 cm³.
The second-generation MG HS crossover, known under the internal number AS33, is an exclusive model produced in China for foreign markets and not sold in China. Its safety is confirmed by five stars in the authoritative Euro NCAP crash test. Recall that the MG brand, which is part of SAIC, is also present on the Russian market.
The dimensions of the second-generation MG HS (4655 x 1890 x 1630 mm, wheelbase 2765 mm) suggest that the "Moskvich M70" will be in size between the "Moskvich 3" and "Moskvich 8".
Initial versions are equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 172 horsepower, aggregated with a 7-speed robotic transmission. More advanced configurations feature a 2.0-liter turbo engine developing 231 hp, and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It is important to note that all-wheel drive is not available. In terms of equipment, the car corresponds to modern Chinese crossovers: two 12.3-inch displays, leather interior, panoramic roof and wireless smartphone charging function.
