Увидят полное лунное затмение и аврору: 8 самолётов в рамках спецрейса Astro Night поднимутся на 4 часа над Полярным кругом

An unusual flight supported by Roscosmos will depart from Vnukovo-3 on September 7

The Scientific and Technical Guild "Rubezhi Nauki", with the support of Roscosmos and Vnukovo-3 Airport, is organizing a special flight to observe the total lunar eclipse.

The four-hour non-stop flight will take place on September 7 as part of the Astro Night project under the scientific supervision of Stanislav Korotky.

Participants will be able to observe the eclipse and the Northern Lights with commentary from astronomer Vladimir Surdin and a current Russian cosmonaut on board.

The event is planned to involve up to eight aircraft departing from Vnukovo-3 at 19:00 Moscow time and heading towards the Northern Urals.

The total phase of the eclipse will take place from 20:30 to 21:53, at the peak moment the aircraft will turn around above the Arctic Circle. Passengers on the right side will see the first half of the eclipse, those on the left side will see the second. When the plane turns around, the Moon and the Northern Lights will "swap" places for different participants.
