The AvtoVAZ car plant has resumed production after a three-week planned corporate vacation, which lasted from July 28 to August 17. This was announced by the chairman of the trade union organization of the enterprise, Sergey Zaitsev.
During this period, the company carried out maintenance of equipment, repair and modernization of production lines. The traditional summer shutdown of production allows preparing capacities for work in the new season.
Earlier, "AvtoVAZ" announced a possible transition to a four-day work week from September 29 due to a decrease in demand for cars. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the seven months of 2025, sales of new cars in Russia fell by 23.4% compared to the same period last year. However, in July, the market showed growth — 129.2 thousand cars were sold, which is a third more than in June.
According to the "Avtostat" agency, from January to July 2025, Lada sales decreased by 24.4%. The head of "AvtoVAZ", Maxim Sokolov, previously predicted a decrease in annual sales by 20–25%. The initial production plan for 2025 provided for the production of 500 thousand cars, but it may be adjusted.
