A significant change may occur in the delivery sector in Russia. Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin has announced that the courier profession may become extinct due to the active introduction of drones. According to him, within two to three years, delivery using drones will become more common.
There are experiments related to drone delivery. Maybe soon the courier will become an extinct profession.
The minister said that experiments with drones are already underway. Their use in delivery may begin to grow. However, before mass implementation, it is necessary to conduct tests to ensure safety for people.
Currently, the delivery of goods using drones in Russia is at an early stage of development. For example, the "Air Crossing" project is being implemented in Yakutia, which allows ordering a limited number of goods using UAVs. At the same time, the drone does not deliver goods directly, but transfers them to a courier at a special site.
It is also worth noting that delivery using Yandex robot rovers has been around for about five years. So far, it is particularly developed only in the Russian capital.
Note that couriers in Russia continue to receive high salaries. According to data from the SuperJob service, in March 2025, their median salary reached 130 thousand rubles, while for specialists with higher education it amounted to 105 thousand rubles.
