The Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ) is ready to produce up to 15 AP-55 helicopters of its own production per year. The company has already launched the production of the first ten rotorcraft.
KEMZ emphasized that production can be increased to 50 if necessary.
Currently, only avionics and a foreign Rolls-Royce engine with a capacity of 450 hp have not been localized in the AP-55. However, in the future, KEMZ plans to replace the power unit with a Russian analogue.
Earlier it became known that the cost of the AP-55 helicopter starts at $2 million. Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal, stated that at such a price, the machine is completely uncompetitive with foreign counterparts, such as the American Robinson.
AP-55 helicopter specifications:
- Flight range — 700 km
- Cruising speed — 240 km/h
- Payload weight — 740 kg
- Maximum take-off weight — 1550 kg
- Cabin volume — 3.2 cubic meters
