In Severodvinsk, at the "Zvezdochka" Ship Repair Center, the naval armament transporter (MTV) of the reinforced ice class "Academician Makeev" (project 20181) was rolled out of the slipway for subsequent completion work. This was reported by the press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
After launching the vessel, the Arkhangelsk shipbuilders will begin finishing the interior, complete installation, electrical installation, and painting work. Then mooring trials will begin. Subsequently, the "Academician Makeev" will be transferred to the Russian Navy.
The MTV is named after Viktor Makeev, twice Hero of Socialist Labor. He is known as the designer of submarine-launched ballistic missile systems.
The MTV "Academician Makeev" is a development of project 20180. It was developed by specialists from the "Almaz" design bureau by order of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The vessel is designed for loading, unloading, and transporting weapons.
