The Russian government is considering launching an experiment on mandatory labeling of industrial equipment, including diesel generators and AC generators.
According to the draft decree of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the test period may run from November 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026. In the future, gas piston units, bearings, and internal combustion engines may also be subject to labeling.
It is expected that labeling should reduce the volume of counterfeit products on the market, but it increases the costs of manufacturers, which may lead to price increases.
Diesel generators are particularly in demand in remote areas of the Far East, for example, in settlements of Yakutia, although their share in the total electricity generation in Russia in 2024 was only 1.1%.
