New Berkut-3 helicopters will be produced at a private enterprise in Kazan, according to the head of the Board of the Industrial Cluster of Tatarstan, Sergey Mayorov.
According to him, the rotorcraft has already reached the testing stage. A model of the helicopter was demonstrated at the "I Choose the Sky!" aviation forum in the capital of Tatarstan.
The two-seater Berkut helicopter with a coaxial scheme was first presented back in 2021 at the MAKS air show. According to data from open sources, the machine was developed with private investors' money in the eponymous design bureau Berkut LLC.
According to aviation experts, the domestic development has every chance of becoming a leader in its market segment due to its price characteristics.
Currently, the country's helicopter market is filled with models of this class of foreign production, mainly from the American company "Robinson" R-22 and R-44, but due to the lower cost, the "Berkut-3" may become a serious competitor. Technical characteristics are still unknown.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rostec was instructed to reduce the cost of the MC-21 and SJ-100, advantages over Boeing and Airbus are needed.
