In Voronezh, 59.1 million rubles will be allocated for the implementation of a face recognition system using city cameras.
The funds will be used to create a special section of the computing infrastructure within the framework of the municipal program "Ensuring Public Order." The program will allow identifying a person by a composite sketch, photos from social networks, or official photographs.
The choice of cameras where the technology will be activated will be agreed with the City Department of Internal Affairs. Currently, there are more than 7,000 video surveillance cameras operating in Voronezh, and their number continues to grow.
Face recognition systems increase the efficiency of law enforcement agencies, help to quickly search for suspects and ensure security in public places. However, such technologies require clear rules for use and protection of citizens' personal data.
