Ключевые крупногабаритные узлы для реактора будущего БРЕСТ-ОД-300 отправили в Северск

Six unique items weigh more than a thousand tons in total

Key components manufactured by Rosatom enterprises — "Atommash" and "Izhora Plants" — have been sent to the closed city of Seversk (Tomsk Region) for the construction of the BREST-OD-300 reactor. Six unique items weigh more than a thousand tons in total, each reaching the height of a five-story building.

"Atommash" manufactured the central cavity shell and the inner casing for the core basket — this is the part where the nuclear fuel will be located. "Izhora" supplied four housings for the peripheral zone, where pumps and steam generators will be located.

Unlike the equipment of traditional VVER-type reactors, the components of BREST-OD-300 are designed for extreme conditions — temperatures up to 600 °C. This required the use of special heat-resistant alloys and non-standard engineering solutions.

BREST-OD-300 is a key Rosatom project in the field of closed nuclear fuel cycle. It is being created as part of the "green" energy of the future and can significantly reduce the volume of nuclear waste, increasing the safety and sustainability of nuclear energy.
