Specialists from the Amur Shipbuilding Plant (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) are carrying out commissioning works on the firefighting system of the rescue vessel "Kerch Strait" (MPSV06 project). This was reported by the press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
It is fully integrated with the vessel and includes a water curtain system and a foam extinguishing system.
The shipbuilders checked the main fire pumps, couplings, fittings, and system patency.
The "Kerch Strait" was laid down in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in 2010. Construction was soon suspended. Funding for the completion of the vessel was allocated in 2018. It was launched in 2020.
The "Kerch Strait" was supposed to be handed over to the Marine Rescue Service in 2021, but the transfer was repeatedly postponed. It is now planned to be completed by the end of 2025.
Characteristics of MPSV06 project vessels:
- Overall length: 86 m
- Overall width: 19.1 m
- Speed: 15 knots
- Power: 7 MW
- Capable of performing icebreaking operations in ice up to 1.5 m thick
