State Duma deputies from the "New People" faction, Vladislav Davankov and Anton Tkachev, have sent a proposal to the Minister of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, to develop a federal program for creating public Wi-Fi hotspots. The initiative aims to provide internet access in case of mobile communication disruptions.
According to the document, mass communication outages negatively affect the economies of regions and limit citizens' access to digital services. As a solution, parliamentarians propose deploying a network of access points in small settlements, as well as in public places: MFCs, train stations, hospitals, and large cities.
We believe it is necessary to develop a federal program to create a network of public Wi-Fi access points, which will become a kind of "digital insurance" for citizens and businesses.
www1.ru previously reported that mobile internet had been practically non-existent in Voronezh for about a week, and residents of the city had switched to actively searching for any available connection points. Passwords from public Wi-Fi networks have become a real treasure – they were passed on paper, sent via Bluetooth, and communicated verbally.
