Russia has launched serial production of one of the most modern missile systems — the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM). Military-political expert Yakov Kedmi explained exactly what targets the high-tech complex is actually intended for.
He recalled that the main advantage of "Oreshnik" is its unsurpassed power and speed of impact, comparable, when used in salvo, to the effect of nuclear weapons.
Asking why "Oreshnik" is not used everywhere is like demanding to strike a summer shed with large-caliber artillery. Such missiles are not wasted. They are for a different level of tasks.
The specialist added that hypersonic weapons are the backbone of non-nuclear deterrence forces, and Russia has a technological advantage in this direction.
This is not about saving money, it's about calculation. "Oreshnik" is not for all targets in a row, but for those that are really significant. It was created not for tactical tasks in a local conflict, but for strategic strikes.
Retired Colonel Aslan Nakhushev stated that currently, the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) of Russia already have three launchers with Oreshnik MRBMs on combat duty.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Tula defense enterprises have increased shipments by 50% since the beginning of 2025.
