The Moscow Department of Transport is introducing new technologies in the Moscow Metro. Among the innovations is the use of artificial intelligence. The chat-bot Alexandra has been answering passengers' questions since the beginning of the year. Now, AI will support announcers in the metro.
Audio information is a key way to communicate with passengers. The press service of the Department of Transport emphasizes that in case of changes, such as the closure of an escalator for repairs or a change in train routes, it is necessary to quickly prepare an announcement. The neural voice will help create the necessary audio file in just a few minutes.
The process of creating an audio file is simple: specialists need to prepare the text, upload it to the program, and adjust the voice, choosing the timbre, intonation, and length of pauses. The neural network was trained on real recordings of metro announcers, which allows achieving high quality.
The neural voice testing will take place on the Sokolnicheskaya line, where there are many transfers to other metro lines and transport hubs. Komsomolskaya station will be one of the first to use new technologies to create announcements in the unified style of Moscow Transport.
After the pilot launch of the technology on the Sokolnicheskaya line, we will make a decision on its further use in the metro and beyond.
