What Awaits the Domestic Automotive Industry?: Belarusian and Russian Cars to Receive Unified Status

Neighboring Auto Industries to Gain Access to the Russian Public Procurement Market

In September, an intergovernmental agreement is planned to be signed, according to which automotive products manufactured in Belarus will be considered Russian. This decision will provide Belarusian cars with access to the public procurement market.

The corresponding document is planned to be signed at the "Belarusprom" exhibition, which will be held in Minsk at the end of September. This was announced on July 22 by Dmitry Tishchenko, director of the RUSBAT Association of Current Source Manufacturers.

For AvtoVAZ, this innovation may have negative consequences, as the Volga automobile giant will have to lower prices for its products.

Sales are already small, and here a competitor will appear who will offer cars for about the same money, but with completely different consumer properties.

Special attention is paid to the Belgee X50 crossover. If this car costs less due to new agreements. AvtoVAZ will face a choice — either lower prices for its products, or resort to administrative measures to protect its interests again.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that AvtoVAZ plans to produce 20–30 thousand Lada Iskra in 2025.
