Electric vehicle developer "Atom" under EU sanctions

European organizations are not participating in the "Kama" JSC project to create an electric vehicle

The new package of sanctions from the European Union includes "Kama" JSC, the developer of the "Atom" startup. The restrictions include a ban on any transactions with sanctioned companies.

The reason given was the alleged involvement of "Kama" in connections with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). While European companies are not participating in the project, the sanctions may complicate cooperation with firms from other countries, including those "friendly" to Russia.

The founders of "Kama" are KAMAZ and its CEO Sergey Kogogin, the company "Renera" ("Rosatom"), RDIF, and the Chinese XY Group.

Why this matters: Sanctions may slow down the development of innovative projects and limit international cooperation, affecting the technology and economy of companies, even if they are not directly related to the EU.
