Роскомнадзор разъяснил новые меры против телефонного мошенничества

The agency commented on the amendments adopted by the State Duma aimed at protecting citizens from cybercrime

Roskomnadzor has officially commented on the recently adopted amendments to legislation by the State Duma, which increase administrative liability for the transfer of SIM cards and accounts. According to the agency's statement, the new rules are aimed at creating a comprehensive system to protect citizens from modern cybercrime schemes.

The commentary emphasizes that the amendments provide for two key areas of work. The first concerns countering the technical means of fraudsters — SIM boxes and virtual PBXs used to spoof numbers. The second is aimed at prevention — warning citizens about the dangers of transferring their personal data and SIM cards to third parties.

Roskomnadzor notes that modern technologies allow attackers to mask calls as numbers of Russian operators, as well as gain unauthorized access to personal accounts on government portals and social networks. In this regard, the agency reminds of the importance of observing basic rules of digital hygiene.

Earlier, www1.ru reported on the introduction of liability for the transfer of accounts and SIM cards.
