The Telegram messenger is not planning to open an office in Russia. This was reported by a source in the Telegram channel of Georgy Lobushkin, former press secretary of Pavel Durov at VKontakte.
There are no such plans and cannot be for many reasons, the channel's source said.
Earlier, Telegram founder Pavel Durov reacted to media reports about the company's plans to open a branch or representative office in Russia under the "landing law".
He made a reference to his own publication: "It is possible that we are dealing not with harmless mistakes of journalists, but with a deliberate campaign to discredit Telegram."
"100%," he wrote, commenting on his old post.
Earlier, a card appeared in the Roskomnadzor register, indicating Telegram's intentions to register a branch or representative office in Russia under the landing law.
