Роскосмос и Билайн объединяют усилия для развития спутниковой связи 5G-NTN

The companies will create an experimental zone to test the integration of space and mobile technologies

JSC "Information Satellite Systems" named after Academician M. F. Reshetnev (part of Roscosmos) and telecom operator Beeline have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of satellite communications and new generation mobile networks. As part of the partnership, the companies will deploy a pilot zone to test 4G-Advanced and 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) technologies, as well as explore the possibilities of using low-orbit satellites to expand communication coverage in remote regions.

According to the statement of the parties, the joint work will not only improve the quality of communication in remote areas, but also accelerate the introduction of the Internet of Things (IoT), unmanned systems and other promising technologies. JSC "RESHETNEV" will provide ground nodes of its space systems, and Beeline will provide infrastructure and expertise in the field of mobile networks.

The cooperation of our companies will allow us to integrate modern mobile communication standards into satellite construction in the future and provide high-quality services for Beeline subscribers in Russia and abroad.
Evgeny Nesterov, General Director of JSC "Reshetnev"

Sergey Anokhin, head of Beeline, added that satellite communications are critical for the development of IoT and other innovative solutions.

Without it, further proliferation of the Internet of Things, unmanned driving, remote object management and many other technologies that are traditionally associated with life in the future, and which are already penetrating into our everyday life, is impossible.
Sergey Anokhin, General Director of Beeline

The joint work of the two companies will help reduce the costs of creating and expanding backbone communication channels and will benefit the development of telecommunications infrastructure in the Russian Federation.
