Lada Iskra Sales Off to a Slow Start: No Budget Version Yet

AvtoVAZ has released only 100 cars in top configurations before the official launch

AvtoVAZ is preparing to launch sales of the new Lada Iskra model, which is scheduled for July 20. According to insiders, the factory has assembled only 100 cars at the moment, and all of them are presented in top configurations.

Each of the assembled cars is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 106 horsepower and is offered with two transmission options: a CVT and a 6-speed manual from the Chinese manufacturer WLY.

Those who were hoping to purchase a basic version of Iskra with an 8-valve engine for 1.2 million rubles will have to wait. The insider suggests that such cars will appear no earlier than in a couple of months.

Mass production of Lada Iskra started in April, but prices for the model have not yet been announced. The cost is expected to vary from 1.2 to 1.6 million rubles.
