БРИКС отправляется в космос: cтраны объединения договорились о совместных проектах в космической сфере для развития науки

The agreement was signed at the summit in Rio de Janeiro

BRICS countries have taken an important step in strengthening technological partnership by agreeing to establish a Space Council. The decision was made at the summit in Rio de Janeiro and recorded in the final declaration of July 6. The main goal of the new structure is to enhance cooperation in the space industry, exchange data, and reduce the gap in capabilities between the members of the association.

According to the document, the countries intend to develop joint projects in space exploration, focusing on peaceful purposes. Special attention is paid to the exchange of information between space agencies. To this end, it is proposed to create a special newsletter that will serve as a platform for coordinating efforts. "We agree to establish the BRICS Space Council and continue working on its functions," the declaration says.

Earlier, on June 20, the president of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, in an interview noted the active development of scientific cooperation between Russia and China, including joint lunar missions.
