The submarine "Novorossiysk" of project 636.3 "Varshavyanka" of the Black Sea Fleet was spotted in the English Channel off the coast of Great Britain.

Royal Navy, an online publication covering the activities of the British Royal Navy, stated that to track the "Novorossiysk", the command sent a specialized submarine hunting aircraft Merlin and a Wildcat helicopter from the 815th Squadron.

Surface and underwater vessels of the Russian Navy regularly make long-distance voyages. All of them are carried out in strict accordance with international norms and rules.

The Novorossiysk submarine is the first in a series of six submarines of Project 636.3, built at the Admiralty Shipyards of the United Shipbuilding Corporation for the Black Sea Fleet. The submarines of the project are armed with Kalibr-PL cruise missiles.
