In the coming decade, the Russian defense industry complex (DIC) may return to Soviet-era tank production volumes, according to Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The authors noted that Russia's industry is currently on track to significantly expand the production of main battle tanks, aiming to reach a significant production volume of 1,000 new tanks by mid-2028, and 3,000 tanks by mid-2035.
According to the publication, Russia produced 280-300 tanks in 2024, which is more than three times the figures for 2022.
The publication states that Russia may also resume production of T-80 tanks, which are likely to surpass the most modern variations of the T-90 "Proryv" and will have a number of features similar to the T-14 "Armata" tanks.
