Daily Cyber Fraud Losses Reach One Billion Rubles

The depth of information technology penetration into the daily lives of Russians has increased over the past four years

Cybercriminals inflict damage of about a billion rubles daily, said Valery Fadeev, head of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.

On Friday, at the international multimedia press center of the Russia Today media group, the Human Rights Council presented a new report, "Digital Transformation and Protection of Citizens' Rights in the Digital Space 2.0."

Over the past four years, the depth of information technology penetration into the daily lives of citizens has increased significantly. It is worth recalling the damage from fraud in cyberspace: according to various sources, it has reached about one billion daily.

Earlier, Russians were warned that scammers had come up with a new way to deceive. They pose as employers and extort large sums of money. Victims are people looking for work on specialized sites.
