The initiative aims to improve the technical and operational characteristics of locomotives, as well as to extend their service life to 64 years.

Its use will improve the traction and dynamic characteristics of the machine, reduce fuel consumption by a third, reduce noise and vibration levels, reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and, as a result, increase the environmental safety of the locomotive.
Nikolai Krepostnov, Director of Astrakhan Locomotive Repair Plant

The new series of locomotives will be equipped with a diesel generator set with a capacity of more than 480 kW and a traction battery. It is also planned to install a modern hood body and an updated cabin with main and auxiliary control panels, which will include display modules for regulating and monitoring the operation of systems.

The TEM2UN driver's cab will feature modern seats, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems.

The modernized locomotive will combine the advantages of diesel and electric traction, which will ensure high maneuverability and reliability in operation. It is expected that the new locomotives will be almost as good as modern models in terms of characteristics, while remaining more economical and environmentally friendly.

Earlier www1.ru reported that three new 2TE25KM locomotives for BaltTransService were delivered to BMZ.
