The first detailed review of the new ORSIS semi-automatic sniper rifle in .308 Winchester has appeared online. The video was published by the YouTube channel 715 CREW.
The promising development was first discussed on camera: the weapon was demonstrated in action at a shooting range, where it was tested by professional shooters.
The video review reveals a number of important technical features and conceptual approaches of the new platform. Although the shooting was conducted not by the host, but by a professional shooter, the emphasis was placed on the combat purpose and relevance of semi-automatic rifles in modern conditions.
In the current combat conditions, semi-automatic rifles are taking up more and more space. Especially in urban development, where speed, mobility, and the ability to quickly repeat a shot in case of a distance error or wind correction are necessary
The ORSIS development resembles the AR platform in its concept and appearance, but, as the engineers emphasize, it is a completely Russian product. The rifle features a short-stroke piston, a modular bolt group, the possibility of installing a folding stock, an adjustable gas block, and well-thought-out ergonomics. The weight of the rifle in a full-fledged sniper configuration is about 5 kg, but lighter versions up to 3.5 kg are possible.
Special attention is paid to accuracy and grouping. During tests conducted at the shooting range, the rifle showed a stable group of hits with an accuracy of 0.753 MOA at a distance of 300 meters — a result that the expert described as outstanding for a semi-automatic rifle.
This level of accuracy allows you to confidently hit "head"-sized targets at 300-400 meters, with a margin for real combat situations
ORSIS positions the new rifle as a modular platform with the possibility of deep adaptation to the tasks of a specific fighter or unit. Interchangeable barrel length, stock options, attachments, modern mounting interfaces, and compatibility with domestic ammunition make it a serious competitor to both the classic SVD and foreign analogues, such as SIG and HK.
We initially created this rifle as a sniper weapon for a specific TOR. But the flexibility of the design allows you to make a lighter "assault" version — for urban combat and close ranges
The rifle is currently in the final stages of internal testing. At the time of filming the video, it had already fired more than 6,500 shots, demonstrating high reliability.
The process of preparing for mass production will begin in the near future. Possible deliveries to law enforcement agencies have not yet been officially announced, but interest, according to unofficial data, is already being shown by special forces.
The new ORSIS .308 Win rifle is not just a copy of a Western platform, but an attempt to create a universal, high-precision semi-automatic weapon that meets modern requirements.
