Nuclear specialists have completed the overhaul of the sixth unit with equipment modernization at the Novovoronezh NPP (Voronezh Region) ahead of schedule. This was reported by Rosatom's press service.
NPP Director Vladimir Povarov said that specialists modernized the automatic turbine control and protection system, and updated the turbogenerator lubrication system with the installation of an additional oil cooler.
This will allow the turbine to remain operational at high ambient temperatures.
In addition, workers installed a cooling tower sprinkler weight system, which signals the need for their chemical cleaning or replacement.
Thanks to the early repair (three days earlier), the Novovoronezh NPP will additionally generate about 73 million kWh. This is enough to provide electricity to 290 thousand apartments for 1 month.
