Footage of the reinforced concrete structures (JBI) under construction for strategic aviation at the Khalino airfield in the Kursk region has appeared online.
The footage shows that large, light-colored hangars have appeared at the site over several years since construction began. According to preliminary data, work began back in 2021.
Khalino is a joint-based airfield (used by both civil and military aviation) and is authorized to receive and dispatch international flights.
Since May 14, 1999, the 14th Guards Leningrad Red Banner Order of Suvorov Fighter Aviation Regiment named after A. A. Zhdanov of the Western Military District, armed with Su-30SM aircraft, has been based at the airfield. The airfield is named Khalino after the village of the same name near the airfield.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a new Rodnik 3D radar was created for the military, but it is unable to detect small drones.
