The Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, Maksut Shadaev, stated that it will no longer be possible to authorize using virtual or substitute numbers in the Russian national messenger. This decision is aimed at strengthening control over users and preventing abuse.
Technically, the implementation of this innovation will require the integration of more stringent verification methods, possibly with binding to SIM cards of telecom operators. Shadaev emphasized that there will be no "super-requirements" for identification, but basic security measures will be strengthened.
We cannot say that some super-requirements for identification are emerging, but at the same time, the use of substitute numbers, virtual numbers, will be excluded.
Experts note that such changes may affect users who previously used temporary numbers for registration. At the same time, this will increase the level of trust in the platform, reducing the risks of fraud and anonymous threats.
