The BMPT received two 2A42 cannons. Armor-piercing tracer shells are loaded into the right gun, and high-explosive fragmentation shells are loaded into the left gun.
The 2A42 cannon is designed to destroy lightly armored vehicles, enemy manpower and low-flying air targets. The rate of fire of the gun is 550-800 rounds per minute.
