AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov spoke about the impact of the law on taxi localization on the company's production plan. He urged businesses to actively switch to domestic cars, emphasizing the importance of supporting local production.
Sokolov noted that the law will come into force only in 2026. In this regard, some car models may remain low-localized until 2033.
At the moment, we do not expect a strong impact. Firstly, we produce, we can produce a sufficient number of cars, and everything here will depend on the order of car parks.
In this context, he focused on the need to switch to cars produced in Russia.
This is a signal to both regional authorities and regional businesses that it is time to finally switch to domestic products, and not only in the field of taxi, but also in all other sectors of industry.
This year, AvtoVAZ also focused on the development of commercial vehicles, introducing the new SKM brand. Under this brand, all-metal vans, minivans and chassis with an open cargo platform will be produced in Russia. However, mass production of such cars will begin only in 2026.
