До 100 болидов в час: максимум метеорного потока Персеиды придется на середину августа

A bright Moon will hinder observations, but there is a chance to see the meteor shower

The peak of the Perseid meteor shower is expected on the night of August 12-13, when the flow rate will reach up to 100 meteors per hour. This was reported by the press service of Novosibirsk State University.

The Perseids are among the "big three" most active annual meteor showers. This year, observations will be complicated by the bright Moon — even outside the city, the sky will be illuminated, which will reduce the visibility of meteors.

Nevertheless, due to the high activity of the stream and the possibility of bright meteors and bolides appearing, observations are still recommended. August is the first month after the summer solstice, when the nights become longer and darker, restoring conditions for full-fledged astronomy.
