The Russian "Baikal" aircraft will become unprofitable for purchase by domestic carriers. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Board of the Association of Small Aviation Enterprises, Sergey Detenyshev.
According to him, demand from airlines for the "Baikal" is unlikely. The question also arises as to how mass-produced the aircraft will be.
If 10 or 20 units are produced, then all fixed costs will be transferred to this aircraft, and its cost will be about 500 million rubles, considering the money spent on development and certification, as well as the cost of manufacturing itself.
Detenyshev noted that even a price of 200 million rubles makes the "Baikal" commercially unattractive, despite references to the American Cessna. Therefore, the Russian market needs to produce significantly cheaper and more mass-produced aircraft.
He noted that a model in which a very expensive aircraft is created at the expense of the budget for operation in a quantity of 10-20 machines exclusively within one Far Eastern company does not save the situation of Russian small aviation.
How many localities can a Far Eastern company serve? Well, 100 localities in the Far East, and there are 150 thousand localities in the country, two-thirds of which need small aviation services. Of course, no airline will be able to serve all the localities in the country simply physically - it's not a working business model.
The cost of the Russian light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" will befrom 220 million to 340 million rubles, said Leonid Luzgin, General Director of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA), earlier.
