Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Yuri Trutnev stated that the situation with the Baikal aircraft project is at a dead end, and production is not expected. According to him, the developers made a mistake in calculating the wing lift and runway length, and the aircraft will require a runway twice as long as originally anticipated.
At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the effectiveness of the improvements to the light aircraft Baikal has been confirmed, so the research and development work on it will continue.
