Индонезия развернулась к российским истребителям Су-35: американские F-15EX ей больше не нужны

The contract for the supply of Su-35s was previously frozen due to "lack of money"

Indonesia is preparing for the largest revision of its aviation strategy in recent years. At the Indo Defence Expo military equipment exhibition in June, the country's authorities may announce two deals at once: a return to the previously frozen contract for the purchase of Russian Su-35s and 42 Chinese J-10 fighters.

Formally, Indonesia has not abandoned the memorandum for the supply of American F-15EXs, but with the described development of the situation, this should put an end to these plans.

In 2018, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense planned to receive 11 Su-35 fighters in exchange for the supply of agricultural products to Russia.

The value of the contract, which the parties had already concluded, amounted to $1.14 billion. However, the process stalled at the approval stage in the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. Two years later, the department announced that the agreement had not been implemented.

Military Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Indonesia, Maxim Lukyanov, emphasized in April 2024 that Moscow is ready to return to negotiations on the purchase of Russian Su-35 fighters by Indonesia, if Jakarta itself expresses such a desire.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Soyuz-2.1b rocket with a classified device was launched in the interests of the Ministry of Defense.
