In 2024, Russian aviation said goodbye to one of the largest aircraft in the world — the famous An-22 "Antei". The aircraft served in the Military Transport Aviation, first of the USSR, and then of Russia, for more than 50 years. Now the aircraft is in storage at the test base of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) in Aramil.
The An-22 "Antei" with registration number RA-09309 and serial number 043481250 was produced in 1974 in Tashkent. For almost its entire flight history, it was based at the Migalovo airfield, located on the outskirts of Tver.
Interestingly, this particular An-22 became the only heavy military transport aircraft to receive camouflage coloring. The military aptly nicknamed it "Parrot."
An-22 "Antei"
A heavy military transport aircraft created by the design bureau of Oleg Antonov. It is designed to transport heavy and oversized military equipment and troops over long distances, and to parachute and landing airborne assaults. This wide-body turboprop military transport aircraft first flew in 1965.
The An-22 "Antei" had very impressive dimensions for its time: a wingspan of 64.4 m, 57.3 m in length, and 12.535 m in height. It could carry up to 150 paratroopers with equipment and 290 people without special equipment.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that almost 4 billion rubles will be allocated in Russia for the refinement of the Ansat helicopter.
