Large anti-submarine ships of Project 1155 are the basis of the anti-submarine forces of the Russian Navy. They are designed for operations in distant sea and ocean zones, both as part of combat groups and in single voyages.

The armament of the ships of the project includes eight vertical launchers of the "Kinzhal" air defense system, two 100-mm artillery mounts, two 12-barreled RBU-6000 rocket launchers, and two 533-mm four-tube torpedo launchers.
