AvtoVAZ has responded to an incident involving the steering wheel locking up on a Lada Vesta while driving, which caused a wide resonance on social networks. A video posted by the car's owner shows how the steering wheel of the car, with a pre-maximum configuration and a 1.8 EVO engine, suddenly stopped working at a speed of 66 km/h. Fortunately, an accident was avoided.
In the footage, the author exclaims emotionally: "Is this normal? It locked up while driving!". Social media users expressed concern about a possible defect in one of the company's key models.
Representatives of AvtoVAZ reported that they consider this case to be isolated. Dealers have already contacted the owner, and the car has been sent for diagnostics. The causes of the incident are still unknown, and conclusions will be drawn after a thorough examination of the car.
Previously, there had been no similar complaints about the steering in this model. Lada Vesta remains the flagship of the AvtoVAZ line and is actively promoted in the markets of the CIS countries. The company assured that no systemic problems with the steering mechanism have been identified, and the final results of the inspection will be published after the completion of the technical analysis.
