The Russian Geran-2 strike drone, based on the results of combat use in the first half of 2025, underwent further modifications, as a result of which the drone received improved capabilities.

After the modernization of the engine, the Geran-2 develops a speed of more than 200 km/h at an altitude of 3 km. In this mode, the drone crosses the front line, and its destruction by the most accessible means, ground mobile fire groups and helicopters, has become almost impossible.

If necessary, the Geran-2 can quickly change its flight altitude to a low one - about 50 meters. As a result, the enemy is forced to raise expensive jet fighters into the air to intercept the "geraniums" going to the target in its rear and "expose" them to the attack of fighter aircraft and air defense forces.

The changes made to the design of the Geran-2 made it possible to overcome object air defense, the drones dive at the target at a speed of about 400 km/h. The striking power of the drone was also increased by increasing the warhead from 50 to 90 kg.

Separately, an update of the anti-spoofing algorithm of the Geran-2 UAV software is noted, which, according to the source, is the best in the world. This made it possible to reduce the vulnerability of the drone control system.
