The newest self-propelled artillery gun (SPG) Lotos is undergoing testing according to the planned schedule. It is planned to complete state tests by the end of 2025, said Alan Lushnikov, CEO of the Kalashnikov concern.
The new self-propelled gun is designed for artillery units of the Airborne Forces and is equipped with a 120-mm gun with a high degree of automation. The new gun will be maximally unified with the gun of the Vena SPG.
Lotos was developed on the chassis of the BMD-4M airborne combat vehicle. The self-propelled gun will be able to swim and be airdropped from an airplane. The heart of the machine is a 450 hp diesel engine, it can accelerate the vehicle up to 70 km/h on roads and up to 40 km/h on rough terrain.
