Skopa-20 unmanned aerial vehicles have started duty on the Northern Sea Route (NSR). Drone systems are deployed on board the nuclear icebreaker Ural. This information was received from the drone developer OMVTECH.
Skopa-20 UAVs are designed to monitor and eliminate oil spills that may occur as a result of maritime transport and pipeline accidents. Oil pollution poses a serious threat to the fragile ecosystem of the Arctic. The icebreaker's crew includes operators from the FGBU Morspasssluzhba, who will control the drones.
The Skopa-20 complex provides visual monitoring of the surface condition and sprays reagents to eliminate pollution. Currently, the domestic reagent Dimex is used. UAVs can carry up to 25 kg of payload, including optoelectronic systems and a 20-liter reagent tank.
The maximum flight speed of the drones is 30 km/h, and the control radius is 10 km. Given the difficult working conditions, the drones are designed to operate in a wide temperature range and in winds up to 10 m/s.
