In 2025, the forest protection service of the Central Federal District (CFD) replenished its fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), acquiring 28 new drones. This is in addition to the 254 devices purchased in 2024, said Alexey Chernyshov, Acting Head of the Department of Forestry for the CFD.
According to him, as part of the federal project, 339 million rubles were allocated to the regions of the CFD last year for the purchase of UAVs. With these funds, 226 aircraft-type and helicopter-type drones of the Geoscan brand, as well as 28 Oduvanchik devices, were purchased. In 2025, another 28 units were purchased: 22 Geoscans and 6 Oduvanchiks.
Chernyshov emphasized that manned aviation and drones effectively complement each other in forest fire monitoring.
We are working out the interaction of different types of aircraft to enhance both the frequency of patrols, the speed of response, and the detection [of fire sources].
Unmanned aerial vehicles of the «Oduvanchik» series are drones that are equipped with coaxial screws. They can monitor the earth, water surface and perform other tasks.
Geoscan drones are specialized unmanned aerial vehicles used for geodetic, cartographic and topographic works. They are widely used in construction, agriculture and other areas where accurate measurement and modeling of the earth's surface is required.
