On May 9, columns of missile carriers, armored vehicles, tanks, tractors, and other tracked vehicles will pass through Red Square in Moscow. Following the march of military personnel regiments, columns of military equipment will enter the heart of the capital. The "First Technical" presents the military vehicles that will participate in the parade dedicated to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.
Traditionally, the legendary T-34 tank, one of the most recognizable symbols of the Great Patriotic War, will open the procession of military equipment. Serial production of the T-34 was established in 1940, and it was the main tank of the Soviet army during the war and the first post-war years.
In addition to the T-34, the SU-100 self-propelled artillery unit (SPG), built on its base, will also be presented at the parade. During parade rehearsals, historical tracked vehicles are transported through Moscow on modern "KamAZ" tractors. "Typhoons" and "Tornadoes."
Armored vehicles protected from explosions and shelling are a new type of equipment in service with the Russian army. Several types of such MRAP (mine resistant ambush protected) vehicles, protected from roadside bomb explosions and ambush attacks, are presented at the parade.
The "Ural" truck of the "Tornado" family is equipped with an armored cabin resistant to bullets from automatic weapons. The vehicle has a V-shaped bottom that diffuses the blast wave. The total weight of the "Tornado-U" all-wheel drive three-axle truck is 30 tons, and the ground clearance is 400 mm. A domestic YaMZ engine with a capacity of 440 hp is installed under the hood.
Another MRAP-class armored vehicle is the ZA-SpN "Titan", which is the result of a deep modernization of the "Typhoon" platform. This armored vehicle is half the weight of the "Tornado", with a total weight of 15 tons. The vehicle is based on a single armored hull on which units and assemblies are mounted. The "Titan" is equipped with a 350 hp diesel engine, all-wheel drive and independent suspension. The "Typhoon-K" armored vehicle is designed to transport a landing party of 14 people with a crew of 3 people.
The armored hull has loopholes for firing, and a machine gun with remote control can also be installed on it. "Tiger" armored vehicles, which have been produced since 2005, are also annually involved in the parade on Red Square. Cars of this family are capable of speeds of 140 km/h, they are produced in many versions.
"Tigers" can carry various weapons, from machine guns to anti-tank missile systems. Modern tanks
Heavy tanks
T-90M "Proryv" tanks, which were adopted in 2021, were spotted at past parade rehearsals. The deeply modernized T-90 received a new turret with the "Kalina" electronic fire control system, which includes a panoramic commander's sight, a built-in ballistic computer and shooting condition sensors.
The parade formation will also include modernized T-80BVM tanks, equipped with gas turbine engines created on the basis of aviation developments. They are equipped with a dynamic protection complex against armor-piercing ammunition.
A new BMP (infantry fighting vehicle) "Kurganets-25" was also noticed at parade training. This machine is built on a modular principle, which should facilitate its restoration in the conditions of the repair base, as well as the production itself.
Self-propelled guns on a wheeled chassis also participate in the equipment show - the "Malva" rifled howitzer with a caliber of 152 mm, mounted on an eight-wheeled all-wheel drive BAZ chassis. It is designed to strike at enemy equipment columns, artillery batteries, air defense systems and other similar targets.
The parade will not do without the usual wheeled armored personnel carriers - the BTR-82A, which has been in service with the Russian army since 2013. UAVs in formation
Unmanned vehicles
Unmanned aerial vehicles in modern combat conditions have acquired great importance, which are used for a wide range of tasks - from observation and reconnaissance to delivering strikes at long distances. They will also be at the parade for the 80th anniversary of Victory.
"Lancet" kamikaze drones, "Orlan" reconnaissance drones and heavy "Geran" strike drones will be transported in the parade formation on four-axle all-wheel drive "KamAZ" trucks.
What the missilemen will show
The Strategic Missile Forces will present the "Yars" missile systems, which are gradually replacing the "Topol-M" system in the troops.
"Yars" is a solid-propellant missile with a multiple warhead. In the mobile version, it is installed on an eight-axle chassis manufactured by the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant. The parade will also feature the "Iskander" operational-tactical complex, capable of carrying cluster fragmentation, concrete-piercing and nuclear warheads.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian BEC "Katran" will begin launching Skvorets-VMF kamikaze drones.
