Scientists at TsNIITMASH (part of Rosatom State Corporation) have completed comprehensive testing of materials for NPP equipment and pipelines. This was reported by the state corporation's press service.
The research provided data on the properties of steel and welded joints that will be relevant for decades to come.
For the first time, we have obtained data that allows us to predict the aging stages of the metal of the investigated thermomechanical equipment for up to 60 years. That is, it has become possible to track the reactions of materials of NPP equipment and pipelines depending on the operating time during operation.
As part of the study, tests were also carried out on the sheaths of cables used at nuclear power plants. Based on the data obtained, an optimal model for their use was proposed, taking into account the probability of insulation breakdown depending on the degree of material destruction. This will improve the reliability and safety of equipment operation at nuclear power plants.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom helped create the world's largest and most powerful pulsed magnetic system for ITER.
