Fiber optic drones are becoming a decisive factor on the battlefield, but they have a number of disadvantages. This was stated by Sergey Tovkach, General Director of KB "AviaNovations", Candidate of Technical Sciences.
According to him, fiber optic drones are quite slow, and the cable can break with careless handling or sudden maneuvers.
Potentially, the enemy gets more chances to escape the pursuit, but, as practice shows, the enemy rarely notices such kamikaze drones, which is not surprising: fiber optic drones are not detected by compact detectors.
Military correspondent Alexey Kozhevnikov added that fiber optic drones have greatly changed the picture on the battlefield, further complicating the use of any equipment in the front-line zone.
In his opinion, new air kamikaze drones will not replace radio-controlled drones, but their use will become widespread due to the lack of truly effective countermeasures.
