The Russian car market in May 2025 shows a trend towards lower prices, making new cars more affordable for a wider range of buyers. The portal "Auto News of the Day" has compiled a rating of the ten cheapest cars that can be purchased in Russia for up to 1.7 million rubles.

Lada Granta tops the list — it is the most budget-friendly car on the market, the cost of the sedan in the basic Standart configuration starts from 750 thousand rubles. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 90 hp, a 5-speed manual gearbox, power steering, power windows and heated mirrors.

In second place is the all-wheel drive SUV Lada Niva Legend, which costs from 1.059 million rubles. It has a classic 1.7-liter engine (83 hp) and a 5-speed manual transmission. The equipment includes power windows, ISOFIX mounts and audio preparation.

The third line is occupied by the more modern and comfortable Lada Niva Travel. The SUV is equipped with the same 1.7-liter engine (80 hp), all-wheel drive and "mechanics". The minimum price is 1.314 million rubles. The basic version has heated mirrors, 15-inch wheels and audio preparation.

In fourth position is the Chinese sedan BAIC U5 Plus, which is assembled in Kaliningrad. Its cost starts from 1.394 million rubles. It is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 105 hp, a manual gearbox, halogen headlights, a rear-view camera, keyless entry and a media system.

Next comes Lada Vesta — a domestic sedan, which costs from 1.459 million rubles, which is slightly higher than BAIC. Under the hood is a 1.6-liter engine (106 hp) and a 5-speed "mechanics". In the basic version — two airbags, air conditioning and heated mirrors.

In sixth place is the compact crossover Livan X3 Pro for 1.479 million rubles. It has a 1.5-liter engine (103 hp) and a variator under the hood. The equipment includes a media system with an 8-inch screen, a DVR, parking sensors and keyless entry.

The seventh position is occupied by the Changan Alsvin sedan of the 2023 model year — it can be purchased for 1.5 million rubles with full payment. The kit includes a 1.5-liter engine (98 hp), a robotic gearbox, cruise control, air conditioning and a 7-inch media system screen.

The eighth place is occupied by the good old UAZ "Hunter", which can be bought for 1.51 million rubles. It is equipped with a 2.7-liter engine (112 hp), a manual gearbox and a plug-in all-wheel drive. Of the options — in fact, only a cigarette lighter.

The ninth line is occupied by the JAC JS3 — a compact Chinese crossover of the 2023 model year. At a price of 1.639 million rubles (including a discount), it offers a 1.5-liter engine (109 hp), "mechanics", front airbags, air conditioning, an audio system with four speakers, cruise control and rear parking sensors.

The top 10 is closed by the Lada Largus station wagon, which in the basic configuration costs from 1.66 million rubles. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine (90 hp) and "mechanics", and also has a driver's airbag, power windows and air conditioning.
