Roskachestvo has revealed common fraud schemes in the world of online games. Players risk losing their money and accounts by downloading "cheat programs" from unreliable sites. Experts at the Digital Expertise Center noted that both legitimate and fraudulent trading platforms operate on the Internet.
Fraudsters lure users with low prices on in-game items, such as "skins" and leveled-up accounts. For example, a rare knife "skin" in Counter-Strike, which costs 100,000 rubles, may be offered for only 2,000 rubles. Once a player takes the bait, they are redirected to a phishing site where they enter their account details. At this point, the fraudsters gain full access to the account.
Stolen accounts are then sold on the darknet or listed on game exchanges. Downloading "cheat programs" is also dangerous. Programs posted on phishing sites are infected with viruses, such as Bloody Stealer. The malicious software steals passwords, bank card details, and other confidential information.
Roskachestvo emphasizes that players should be careful and not trust suspicious offers.
