A new fumigator designed for preparing, disinfecting soil, and controlling potato pests has been developed at the St. Petersburg State Agrarian University (SPSAU). This was reported by the university's press service.
The device is equipped with a digital controller to perform several operations simultaneously. These include preparing a continuous pre-planting soil, dosing and distributing pesticides, and strengthening the topsoil. This contributes to more efficient processing and increases the impact of agrochemicals.
Potato producers in the European part of Russia face significant losses due to nematode pests. Sometimes, crop shortfalls reach up to 90%.
Currently, an experimental model of the described device for preparing a profiled surface and disinfecting the soil has been created and is being tested in the fields of the SPSAU training and experimental garden.
The new fumigator is equipped with a dosing system that allows controlling the quality of pesticide application at various depths. This reduces the load on the soil and prevents the degradation of agricultural landscapes.
Earlier,www1.ru reported that the self-propelled sprayer "TUMAN-4"came off the assembly line of the "Pegas-Agro" enterprise.
