The Zhatai Shipyard in Yakutia has officially launched production. The first vessel to be built at the shipyard will be a non-self-propelled hold barge of the "river-sea" class for the Lena United River Shipping Company. This was reported in the press service of the Government of the Republic of Sakha.
The head of the region, Aisen Nikolaev, launched the pilot operation of the new hull production workshop. The construction of the first ferry and a demountable bridge will begin at the shipyard this year.
The head of Yakutia noted that the renewal of the cargo and passenger fleet will be an important part of the development of the region's transport infrastructure. The Zhatai Shipyard will be able to build up to 10 shallow-draft river vessels of various types.
The importance of putting the new facility into operation was also noted by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov. He congratulated the people of Yakutia.
The development of the transport infrastructure of the Lena basin is one of the key conditions for the uninterrupted delivery of goods. Since 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, together with the leadership of the republic and the business community, has done a great deal of work necessary to create an object of this scale.
The project is being implemented on the territory of the advanced development zone "Yakutia" with the attraction of private investments and the support of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
